A Response to Homosexual Marriage

The NJ Supreme Court’s egregious decision commanding the State Legislature to legalize homosexual unions is dangerous judicial activism. This decision should outrage every decent citizen. The State Legislature must stand up to this renegade court and pass a Constitutional amendment stating that marriage is between one man and one woman. The ruling is wrong in the following areas:

The decision is wrong judicially

Every State has the right to regulate marriage through representation by elected officials, or through the direct vote of the people. The Supreme Court has bypassed this fundamental principle of democracy and bypassed generations of legal precedent. The court has arrogantly placed itself above the Constitution by commanding our Legislature to pass laws according to the instruction of the court. The judicial arrogance is appalling.

The decision is wrong morally

Homosexuality is sin. It is not bigotry or a violation of someone’s civil rights to make such a statement. Nor is it wrong for a free society to pass and uphold laws defining the home and regulating the areas of human sexuality that are morally wrong within that society. It is the responsibility of our citizenry to clarify and endorse the appropriate functioning of the home. The family unit is the simplest and most basic structure of society. The definition of marriage as a man and woman united in a lifelong monogamous relationship is essential. This is not intrusion, it is not peering into bedrooms. It is basic morality, the responsibility of every society. A society that under the pressure of homosexual activism re-defines the institution of marriage cannot survive, since the home is the foundation of the society. If homosexual unions are permitted, than there is no logical barrier to polygamist unions (3 men, 1 man with 4 women, etc), or incestuous unions (a father and consenting daughter, a father and his 3 sons, etc.). What are we advocating to our children? Do you want your son marrying his boyfriend? His mother? This gets rather disgusting, but it is the inevitable end when we foolishly pretend that there are no guiding moral absolutes.

Those who claim that human sexual behavior is a matter of personal choice should consider the following. If you are willing to allow homosexual behavior, are you also willing to allow incest? What about sex between consenting minors and their teachers? What about bestiality? What about polygamy? What about public nudity, or public sexual acts? What about necrophilia? The bottom line is that the society must dictate the type of behavior is that is acceptable and unacceptable.

Our laws are being challenged because America is departing from the morality that had been universally accepted. We must stand firm in our conviction that Biblical morality is the only acceptable foundation for our culture. Without Biblical morality, we will drown in a sea of moral confusion. Approval of homosexual unions is only the first objective for those who would have us abandon all imposed moral structure. This rebellion will lead to the complete decay of our society.

The decision is wrong economically

The added cost in health care benefits to business and to the State of NJ for homosexual partners will cause many businesses to leave NJ. The State will be a magnet for homosexual couples coming here to marry, but also bringing with them their medical needs. AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases which are prevalent in the homosexual community will create a burden for our health care system. Do you think your health insurance premiums and co-payments are high now? Wait until health care benefits are mandated to be paid to homosexual partners by every employer.

Candidates should tell us where they stand on a Constitutional amendment protecting marriage. This is our state. Unless we act, the judiciary will expand its dominance as a legislature above the law.  Call your state legislators and ask them to pass a constitutional amendment protecting the traditional definition of marriage.  Find out where the candidates stand on this issue.  Your action or inaction will have a great on this and future generations.
